You had carried on your back a load, a newborn baby girl
and a darling son running joyfully around like a little squirrel. 
The pain in my heart will never end
for time with you I can never again spend.

Your laughter, your sweet voice and all the great times we enjoyed
are now just a heart-breaking memory that I must avoid.

As I sadly go back up this road alone
I can only cry and moan.
I will carry you in my heart
until the day I also depart.

Until then, my darling daughter. wait
for me to arrive at the gate.

May I then be blessed to again hear you say, I love you.
For I love you and God's word is true. 
We will see each other again in a better life
where we will be free from all strife.
