Hear the sound
I feel a poem coming on
Haven’t written one in a while
But this one will make you smile
I write just for fun.
The sound of rain on a tin roof
Is solid proof
That there is joy to be had
And every sound makes me glad.
The sound of a baby's laugh
Tells only the half
Of the joy in life
Where there is no strife.
The sound of a bird singing
Make my heart begin ringing
Out praises to him who said
It is better to live than to be dead.
The sound of children playing
Reminds me of on the ground laying
And looking up at the sky
Brings back joy that makes me cry
When I remember my childhood
And I know that all is good.
The sound of Mother calling
Please don’t from that tree be falling.
Please don't jump from the housetop
Please go give the pigs some slop.
I had a pig named bigjoe. He was my pet.
I rode on his back each day, and yet
My Daddy still amidst my crying and pleading
Had to kill my friend and left me needing
To understand why does the sound
Of his screaming still brings
Sadness after all these years. I have found
That what grownups do to feed
Their families is all we need.
Their love is something that time cannot replace.
The sounds in this world we cannot erase
So just enjoy them one by one
And let the sad ones move on.
