Did you hear my call?
By: Jo Smith ***** June 14, 2021
My heart hurts each day when I ponder
Indeed I wonder
Did you hear my call? Did You hear my cry?
If so, then I wonder Why?
Why did you never respond?
Why have you broken our bond?
I called to you morning, noon, and night.
My heart needs your love as I need the light.
Were you too busy with life; with having fun
To ever look around and see what had been done?
Did you not know that you had left my heart splattered?
Was running the games all that to you mattered?
I climbed mountains and hills in search of you.
I cried till there was nothing left to do.
At times I thought I saw your shadow;
Then I ran to find you and nothing was there though.
Did you never hear my heart beating loudly?
Were you just acting very proudly?
That you ignored all the love I sent your way?
What else is there for me to say?
Did you find a pot of gold?
Is that why your love toward me grew so cold?
Perhaps your ears were totally deaf.
Is that why you put my love on a shelf?
You have trampled my love like a tiny bird.
To just walk away as you did is absurd.
Did you hear me crying, come back and rebuild?
You seem to like that you have now my love killed.
I cried to you many times and you gave me no answer.
You had many other things as your enhancer.
What joy did you find that made you be to me so aloof?
I now say it is all proof
That you heard my call
You heard my cries
You did not care at all that my heart dies.
Now, after many years and abundance of tears
I have been set free. I no longer cry for thee.
My heart will always carry for you a tender spot.
But now I see that having you was not my lot.
Together, we did not walk down that road.
My crying for you became to me a heavy load.
You said we would grow old together and never part.
But now we are back where we were at the start.
So now I bid you farewell and hope that all is well.
If my heart ever again cries for you I will not tell.
I wish you happiness wherever you may be.
I will no longer call to thee.
It is well, It is well with my soul.
I have been made whole.
He endured the cross and despised the shame
But he looked ahead and saw glory and fame.
